Blogging Dreams, Knitting Reality
So, my grand plan to keep all sections of my website fully up-to-date? Let’s just say Blogging Dreams, Knitting Reality sums it up perfectly! A quick glance at the main blog page will show you the “My Bookish April” post still proudly holding its ground at the top. I had high hopes of regularly writing about life in Finland, my favorite books, tasty recipes, and all sorts of musings. But the truth is, our energy follows our interests—and right now, mine is firmly planted in knitting.
It’s not that I’ve stopped living my life, savoring Finland, baking delicious things, snapping photos, or diving into good books. I’m doing all of that, believe me! But when it comes to writing, I keep circling back to knitting (and books, but mostly knitting). So, if you’re here for fresh content, you’ll find most of it in the Knitting Blog.
I do plan to post a new book update soon—I’ve got quite a stack to talk about! But today, let’s chat about the latest addition to the site: the Shop button. Yes, another knitting-related development…sorry, not sorry! 😉
The Start of Something New
This summer, I surprised even myself by creating my first knitting pattern. You see, my interest in any new project usually starts with a challenge. Give me a creative task with a technical side, and I’ll dive in headfirst, enjoying every little twist and turn. With the pattern, it was exactly that. As a long-time user of patterns crafted by others, I couldn’t help but wonder, “Can I make one of these myself?”
Long story short, I did. My first pattern was a trial run, offered free on Ravelry. I put as much time and care into it as I would for a paid pattern, and the response was fantastic. Now, knitters everywhere are working on those socks! With that success, I decided to keep going. Today, along with my freebies, I’ve got two full-fledged paid patterns.
Since I love managing the technical side of things and setting my own rules, the next logical step was to open my own shop. Now here we are!
Ready to Wear
In addition to the patterns, there’s also a Ready to Wear section for finished knit items. Despite my growing collection, friends and family are well-stocked, but the socks just keep multiplying! So, they now have a cozy corner in the shop too.
One note—there’s no direct purchase button for the ready-made items. Since shipping can vary quite a bit depending on your location, I like to work out the best option for each order. If you’re interested in buying socks or gloves, just drop me a message, and we’ll figure out the details. I know, it’s simpler to just click “Buy,” but for now, I want to keep that personal connection before each purchase. I know, it’s simpler to just click “Buy,” but for now, I want to keep that personal connection before each purchase. Ha! And this is coming from an introvert who definitely isn’t the first in line to chat with people. But hey, miracles happen! 😊
So, welcome to the Shop! The Ready to Wear section will keep growing, along with, I hope, the rest of the site.
Stay Tuned
