Red Squirrel Socks
This year, I’ve been knitting nearly all my socks using Arwetta Classic yarn from the Danish brand Filcolana. I’ll admit, it took me a while to get the hang of it, but once I did, this yarn quickly became my favorite. The secret to its success? Very tight knitting with 2.0 mm needles. Made from an exceptionally soft, thin blend of merino wool with a touch of nylon, this yarn produces perfect socks—and I’m not exaggerating. Originally developed for children’s clothes, the term “delicate” truly suits it. The socks are warm (which is, after all, the primary function of knitted socks), soft, and so thin that they can be worn with almost any type of footwear.
The Red Squirrel socks are sized 39-41 and I’m still undecided whether they’ll stay at home or if I’ll part with them—then they’ll appear in my shop. But if you suddenly find yourself really wanting a pair—whether for yourself or someone close to you—just leave a comment and this pair could soon be on its way to you!
